Tenant Experience Portal (TEP) is a product that enables property owners to monitor and manage the energy consumption of the premises. It facilitates system expansion with the adoption of the IoT to enhance the rental experience and tenancy lifecycle. The new business approach is inspired by rounds of user interviews and market research. Before the official launch, the concept of TEP helps En-trak successfully wins support from Alibaba and CLP.

Smart light and energy saving are boring concepts in PropTech. These approaches won't improve the business. However, there is no reference of how the business would get out of the loop of energy saving. The challenge is not only on how to better position the product in the long run, but also to ensure that the product would cover all the functions of the existing products.

Research

The desktop research and the feedback of the existing products told us that the business approach is needed to be updated. The need and problem are there. But how to approach the clients with our product, that would be an art.

There are some research conducted for the previous product enhancement. Most basic user needs and pain points are mentioned during the interview.

Due to business reasons, the product owner conducted the kickoff research for TEP. There were 6 interviewees covering building manager, workplace admin, and hardware installer.

The TEP ecosystem creates a comprehensive experience in the office. The redesigned information architecture allows users at different management levels to create the ideal working environments. From the company's perspective, it achieves a higher energy efficiency and boosts productivity by improving comfort and health. The mobile application synchronizes with the web portal that supports the installation settings. One product serves various use cases.

The vision of En-trak and the big scale of the project are the major reasons for me to join this company. I am pleased that the design brought a significant transformation to the business direction. It contributes to validating scalable product strategy, gaining a loyal customer base, having eligibility for funding programs, and winning awards. Defining and designing the product foundation was an enjoyable process. We were working in a small team. The working model made the discussion more efficient and productive. During the brainstorming session, almost the whole company contributed and gave a lot of good ideas. I am very honored to be part of a meaningful project.
